The Dark End
I remember that SSR Project submission deadline was there on the next day. We gathered at manasi house in bandra on previous day. This day was different as usual. When we approached to her house, we got caught in problem of refusal of rickshaws to manasi’s house. This was happening because the day before Bandra’s slum area “Bherampada” was under the fire flames. The cause for fire was blast of cylinder. It destructed about 200 houses, bandra skywalk and their sweet homes.
We somehow reached her house and started working on the project. Everybody went home early at 6:00pm as the area was not good for girls. I waited there till 9:00pm and then left for home. I was so damn thinking on SSR project that I forgot to tell the rickshaw driver to leave me at another area which was unaffected. He took me to the place where the area was under flames.
The area was dark as lights were cut off in order to avoid accidents through sparking of electricity; people were roaming here and there. There were loads of clothes lying on the sides of road. Some of the people were searching clothes for them, on other side reestablishing work was going on, there were relief carts providing food for people, some were looking with different view, and their view was to rob money from people. The people were shouting and fighting for their houses, also some were fighting for food and running here and there in search of family members as some people’s houses were under the attack of fire.
The station was very near, but due to darkness nothing was able to see. I got so much scarred that I was thinking to go back to manasi place, but my luck I got one guy who took me to Bandra station. Thank you god!!
Later, I reached home and rested on bed and thought about the people who I saw there searching for belongings, food, and house to live. I wish that no one should experience such fearful incident. This incident left a great impact on my mind and left great example of whenever at what time we can’t say that life will turn back.
