Undiscovered states in national anthem
Have you ever thought of that in India’s
National anthem there are 7 north east states, which are not mentioned in it.
When I first discovered that the whole India’s national anthem does not
include the north east stated I was astonished.
This major issue got highlighted
in my mind because of a play which was held in our college on the occasion of
independence day. I never thought that there is some part of India which is not assuming themselves the part
of India
as a country.
The north east Indians are
bounded by a single but very destructive and scary law, which is known as AFSPA
(Armed forces special power act, 1958 ). It is a such if it is applied in Metro
cities then you cannot believe to express your own fundamental rights which are
given by our constitution, even people like Anna Hazare will be killed on mere
suspicious and provoking the other people against the government.
Irom Sharmila was not the one who came forward to save the
lives of people living in north east. This issue was highlighted first by a women known as Manorama. She was against
the enforcement of AFSPA on the people of north east. After her revolt she was
literally taken out from her home forcefully and brutally gang raped by the
people of AFSPA. They killed her only because she stood in front of the
government for informing that applying this law on the people has led to very
bad situation.
This gave rise to the people of Imphal and north east state to revolt. The
women of this states came out naked and were screaming eat us eat us!!. This
led to Irom Sharmila to come forward and revolt against the government. The
media was also helping her a lot. This also gave her to reach the mass audience
of north east to tell them to participate in the revolt. She is still on her
fast and many years have passed away, but there is no change in the situations
of north east. They are still living life with heart keeping as a stone.
I don’t know when there will be a
change in these states, some are developing but some are still facing the
crucial side effects of this law. Even some years ago two journalist of Tehelka
magazine wrote a story on this issue and
the next day they were killed in the morning light in middle of the road. This
even states that the media is under
control and thus people cannot come forward an appose such a crucial issue.
I will not say that go forward
and start apposing but look forward to accept this and try to gain more
information and aware lot of people about this and let see somehow people
living in other parts of country may come forward and revolt against this law.
Parag,
ReplyDeleteI finally looked up your blog again, and I am really happy. You have grown from your first post. And all by yourself too. Keep writing, the change will be evident even to you.
I also worried about this topic you mention here when I first realized it. We have a long way to go before we reach a democratic state!
Good work, keep going.
Riya
